When it comes to celebrity dog-parenting skills, Joss Stone is tops and Paris Hilton is the worst, according to an online vote by readers of two dog magazines. Stone, who has a poodle named Dusty Springfield, volunteered for the North Shore Animal League America after seeing images of pets stranded in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Wilma, said The New York Dog and The Hollywood Dog magazines. The 18-year-old British singer also recorded a public service announcement seeking support for the homeless pets of the Gulf Coast. “Joss is a huge advocate for shelter dogs and it’s not just talk,” said Leslie Padgett, editor of the magazines. “This year, despite an incredibly hectic schedule, she went out of her way to help the dogs of Katrina and Wilma.” Hilton, a 24-year-old hotel heiress and star of “The Simple Life,” was voted the world’s worst celebrity dog owner. “First she loses Tinkerbell, then she ditches her for a cuter dog, then replaces that dog with a ferret, then a kinkajou monkey and then, I gather, a goat,” Padgett said in a statement. “Recently Tinkerbell was spotted back in Paris’ arms. But how long will she be in favor this time?” Stone narrowly edged out Ashley Olsen, who adopted a mixed-breed from the Animal Haven Shelter in New York. The voting took place over a three-month period among visitors to the Web sites thenydog.com and thehollywooddog.com. Results were released Friday. The results weren’t scientifically representative of the magazines’ readers. Source: yahoo news Category: News Comments: 4 Comments |

From msnbc.com: Courtney Love’s troubles have trickled down to her dog’s life. The rocker dropped off her pooch at a vet’s office in the spring and still hasn’t picked him up, according to a report. Love took her 13-year-old German Shepherd, Lloyd, to the Beverly Hills Small Animal Hospital in March after he had a stroke and she left him there, according to the Star, which reports that Lloyd is now up for adoption. “Initially, after the stroke, Lloyd couldn’t walk,” a source told the tab. “But now he’s able to scamper around with the cutest cocked head. He’s absolutely adorable. Sadly, though, Lloyd’s now living in a concrete cage. It’s tragic.” Category: News and Other Celebs Comments: 7 Comments |

From contactmusic.com:
‘Fast and the Furious’ star Paul Walker has turned his Golden Retriever Boone into a star after landing the pooch a role in his latest movie. Movie-maker John Walker was so impressed with the temperament of Walker’s pet, he decided the movie hunk’s character in diving adventure film “Into the Blue” should have a dog. Walker explains, “My dog Boone travels everywhere with me and when we were casting Into The Blue, he was just sitting in the corner. “John saw how well-mannered he was and he listened to me so well. He was against having a dog on set with a wrangler and filming on water. But my dog listens to me so well, so, sure enough, he made him my dog in the movie. “My dog respects the ocean, but we had a run-in with a sea lion in Santa Barbara (California) not so long ago. I took my daughter and the bull sea lion can be real protective and he jumped into my boat, about 1,600 pounds of him. “I threw everyone in the cabin of the boat and the only one I couldn’t get a hold of was my dog. I never saw my dog move so fast; he jumped right into the ocean and was swimming for shore!” Category: News and Other Celebs Comments: 6 Comments |

From msnbc.com: “Honda Motor Co. has designed a car that’s friendly for dogs. The W.O.W. Concept, which stands for “wonderful openhearted wagon,” is an exhibition model with no plans for commercial sale that will be exhibited at the Tokyo auto show that opens on November 19th. A special crate for dogs in the glove apartment allows owners to interact with their pets while driving. A bigger crate pops up from the floor in the back seat area and can be folded back into the floor when it’s not needed. For even bigger dogs, just buckle them up with a special seat belt to the floor. The W.O.W comes with removable, washable, rollout flooring and has wide sliding doors to keep dogs happy.” Category: News Comments: 7 Comments |

From teentoday.co.uk: Demi, who shares the house with toyboy lover Ashton Kutcher, is now offering a reward for the safe return of her beloved pooch and has plastered posters all around her neighbourhood in a bid to try and find the dog. The posters, which are written in both English and Spanish, feature a colour photograph of Louie and give a number to call if anyone has any information. However, Demi’s neighbours are convinced the actress won’t find the dog - because it has been eaten by wild coyotes. One told America’s Star magazine: “Louie is gone. It is probably a coyote that got him. “There have been a lot of pets that have disappeared from this street over the years.” Demi’s representative, Stephen Huvane, has confirmed the dog is missing, but has not disclosed the amount of cash being offered as a reward.
